Ahead of its October launch, OnePlus has skipped the “14” in favour of the “15”. Louis Lee, president of OnePlus China, posted teasers on Weibo that confirmed the new flagship would run Android 16-based ColorOS 16 and the just-announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
Additionally, the teaser video shows OnePlus switching from micro-quad curved displays to flat panels. Compared to the previous model, the corners have been rounded, and the bezels have been shaved slightly.
Another leap is made with the display’s 165Hz refresh rate, which is up from 120Hz. This phone stands out because some compatible games actually run at 165 frames per second – a rare feature. Instead of relying on the dual-chip setup used in earlier models, such as the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 13, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 handles frame interpolation natively. The company executive, however, did not confirm whether this new integrated solution improves visuals or power efficiency.
Not all changes may appeal to everyone. According to rumours, the panel will have a 1.5K resolution, a step down from previous flagships’ 2K screens.
