In the past few generations of its S series, Samsung has upgraded chiefly its flagships and foldable devices iteratively. There were minor changes over the S24 Ultra in the Galaxy S25 Ultra, including rounded corners, a slightly upgraded ultrawide camera, and a new chipset.
Samsung might finally adopt high-density silicon-carbon battery technology in the Galaxy S26 series to deliver a big leap in battery capacity. Later, industry insiders warned to temper expectations, claiming the battery could only hold 5,500mAh. As a result, the latest leaks paint an even more dismal picture.
It’s not yet finalised, but @PandaFlashPro says it’s still “under 5,400mAh” – if it increases. This opens the possibility of a 5,000mAh battery being used on the upcoming S26 Ultra. Although the Galaxy S25 Ultra holds up in battery drain tests, it can’t compete with smartphones sporting silicon-carbon batteries boasting 6,000mAh+, especially since the most advanced processors also power those smartphones.
The charging speed hasn’t improved much either. Samsung is stuck with 25W or 45W wired and only 15W wireless charging, unlike Chinese flagships that offer 80W+ or 50W wireless charging. This isn’t what we would call “fast” in 2025. The Galaxy S26 Ultra had been rumoured to have 65W wired charging, but the tipster now says “not 65W.” That doesn’t exclude a modest bump to 50W, but it’s not a game-changer.
Samsung is likely to market its Ultra flagship once again as “the best Galaxy ever” when it launches in Q1 2026. We’ll see more leaks as we near the reveal, so stay tuned
