According to multiple rumors, Samsung’s following product in the Galaxy XR series will be a pair of glasses.
Now that it has been identified as model SM-O200P, its first pair of XR glasses has been found. As you can see, the Galaxy XR model number has an “I” in place of an “O”, so we know we’re not just talking about another headset.
There have been rumours that Samsung’s first XR glasses may look like Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses and that a pair without a screen would be released in 2026, followed by one with a screen in 2027.
It is alleged that the first pair of glasses has Transitions lenses, which automatically darken in sunlight and become transparent indoors. The Transitions brand is owned by EssilorLuxottica, maker of Ray-Ban and a bunch of other brands, so it’ll be interesting to see if Samsung also uses Transitions-like photochromic lenses.
Samsung’s Ray-Ban glasses will also include a camera, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. However, they add a mobile data connection, which the Meta glasses lack. Since Samsung has already registered the name Galaxy Glasses, there’s a good chance these will be called that.
The Galaxy Glasses will certainly launch in the US and a few other markets, but those markets haven’t been leaked yet.
