Audio-Technica, a global leader in audio technology, has officially launched its latest turntable, the AT-LP5X, in the Indian market. Building on more than 60 years of Japanese audio design and engineering expertise, the AT-LP5X promises to deliver superior high-fidelity sound, making it the perfect choice for both audiophiles and vinyl enthusiasts alike.

As the direct successor to the highly popular AT-LP5, the AT-LP5X retains the award-winning features of its predecessor while introducing several key upgrades. Among these is the new AT-VM95E Dual Moving Magnet stereo cartridge, the next-generation model of the legendary AT95E. The AT-VM95E comes pre-mounted on an AT-HS6 headshell, offering an excellent sound setup right out of the box. Additionally, the upgradeable stylus assembly allows users to personalize the turntable’s performance further by choosing from the VM95 range.

Specs:

One of the standout features of the AT-LP5X is the introduction of the low-noise quartz-locked DC servo direct drive motor, which offers 33, 45, and 78 RPM speed capabilities (with the addition of the AT-VM95SP stylus, sold separately). The tonearm retains its iconic J-shaped design from the AT-LP5, inspired by Audio-Technica’s classic turntables from the 1960s and 1970s. It also features a metallic gimbal suspension system and precision bearings, ensuring smoother and more accurate playback with reduced tracking errors.

The turntable’s aluminium platter is precision-machined to ensure balanced on-axis rotation, further enhancing sound quality. The AT-LP5X comes with a built-in switchable Moving Magnet and Moving Coil phono/line preamp, making it easy to connect directly to computers, home stereo systems, powered speakers, and other audio components. This “plug-and-play” approach allows users to enjoy their vinyl records right away. Additionally, the turntable supports both MM/MC cartridges, allowing for simple upgrades to moving coil systems with additional equipment.

The external power supply of the AT-LP5X further improves sound quality by reducing signal chain noise, delivering a cleaner listening experience. Despite its retro-inspired design, the AT-LP5X is a modern turntable at heart, featuring a USB output to digitize your vinyl collection. A cable to connect the turntable to a PC is included, along with a link to download free Audacity software to convert records to MP3, WAV, and other digital formats.

The chassis of the AT-LP5X is built using anti-vibration damping materials with heavy mass internal inserts to reduce performance-affecting resonances. It comes in a sleek matte black finish and includes accessories like a 5mm heavy damping mat, dust cover, and RCA cable.
