Meta has introduced the second generation of its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses to Indian consumers, hot on the heels of the first generation’s launch. The much-anticipated Gen 2 model packs significant improvements in both hardware and software, aimed at enhancing day-to-day convenience and creativity.
Enhanced Capabilities for Today’s Users
Building on the success of the previous version, the new smart glasses now feature stunning 3K Ultra HD video capture and an ultrawide HDR lens to deliver superior photo and video quality. Battery life sees a notable bump as well, with up to 8 hours of use on a single charge. Quick charging is available—reach 50% in just 20 minutes—and an included carrying case provides another 48 hours of backup power. Future software updates are expected to unlock creative tools such as hyperlapse and slow-motion video modes.
Design Refresh and Style Expansion
Staying true to Ray-Ban’s legendary designs, the Gen 2 glasses debut in the timeless Wayfarer style, along with contemporary Skyler and Headliner frames. Users can also pick from bold new colours like Shiny Cosmic Blue, Shiny Mystic Violet, and Shiny Asteroid Grey, reflecting current seasonal trends.
Smarter Meta AI Now in Hindi
Meta AI, the built-in virtual assistant, has evolved to provide more helpful everyday support. Users can say “Hey Meta” to get answers, recommendations, or even creative suggestions. A major update for Indian buyers is the introduction of full Hindi support, making it easier to capture photos or videos, manage music playback, and handle messages with simple voice commands. The new Conversation Focus feature enhances voice clarity in loud environments for more effective communication.
Celebrity Voices and Local Touches
The latest celebrity AI voice for Meta’s assistant is none other than Bollywood star Deepika Padukone. She joins a roster of global celebrities whose voices can guide users, adding a distinctly local flavor to the device’s features.
UPI-Lite Payments Right from Your Glasses
Arriving soon is a groundbreaking feature that lets users pay via UPI QR codes without pulling out their phone. By looking at a QR code and telling the assistant, “Hey Meta, scan and pay,” transactions can be completed in seconds directly from the glasses. The process is secure and works through the user’s WhatsApp-linked bank account, further integrating smart eyewear into everyday activities.
Pricing and Availability
The Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) smart glasses are available throughout India via Ray-Ban’s official website and select optical retailers. Prices range from Rs. 39,900 to Rs. 45,700, depending on the model and features.
