Galaxy S25 Ultra may not lose its 3x zoom camera. According to a reputed industry insider, the 2025 flagship will still have four cameras. It was previously reported that the company is considering equipping the phone with a single zoom lens that can be adjusted.

Samsung’s Ultra flagship phones have featured two zoom cameras for several years. Two cameras offer optical zoom: one with 3x and one with 10x. With the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung switched to a 5x lens. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to keep a similar setup next year, but a hardware upgrade is always possible.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra prototype is said to have only three cameras on the back, according to a rumor that surfaced recently. The camera comes with a 200MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide lens, as well as a zoom camera with two fixed focal lengths. There are two levels of magnification available with this optical zoom. Samsung has improved the main camera for lossless photos up to 3x zoom, one at 4-5x and the other at 6-7x.

It serves the same purpose as having two different zoom cameras with different optical zooms. Ice Universe, however, says the rumor is inaccurate. According to them, Samsung will equip the Galaxy S25 Ultra with four rear cameras. This means that a new zoom camera with 5x or higher optical zoom will replace the 3x zoom camera.

Samsung isn’t removing the 3x zoom camera, but it doesn’t rule out a camera hardware upgrade on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Ice Universe said an upgrade is very possible, adding that they are awaiting “more specific and accurate information.”
