OnePlus starts teasing its first foldable aka OnePlus Open launching soon.

According to rumors, OnePlus will launch its first foldable smartphone, the Open, later this month. A few days ago, an Indian actress was spotted rocking the Open in the open, and today the company officially begins its teaser / hype-building campaign.

Here’s a video from Unbox Therapy featuring OnePlus boss Pete Lau in an interview. OnePlus apparently holds 35 patents on the hinge design of the device.

A sheet of paper was ‘trapped’ inside the OnePlus Open and then the phone was lifted by the sheet of paper, without the phone sliding off. This demonstrated that the OnePlus Open will close without any hinge gap. Despite the massive camera bump, there’s a huge chunk of what looks like cardboard on top of it, so we can’t see the hardware.

Compared to Oppo’s Find N2, the Open has 31 fewer hinge components, helping it be 37% smaller and lighter. Despite not entering the foldable race among the first, Lau claims his company is “bringing the best phone to the race”. As with other OnePlus devices, he promises a fast, smooth experience. Also, the alert slider has been added.

The device was jointly developed by OnePlus and Oppo teams, each contributing unique expertise. Additionally, he mentions multiple ‘go to market’ strategies, which we consider to be a veiled confirmation that Oppo Find N3 in China will be marketed as the OnePlus Open internationally.

OnePlus won’t be releasing a flip phone, at least not yet, because Lau believes the type of user who buys a flip phone isn’t the type who buys OnePlus devices.

Leaked Pixel 8 ad reveals why you need to switch, comes with some new features.

We’re getting yet another collection of Pixel 8 leaks this weekend, as a new ad emphasizes why you should switch to Pixel. As of the past couple of weeks, Google has ramped up its Pixel phone ad campaign.

There is now a leaked ad that dives deeper into that topic after the Pixel 8 launches. Posted by Arsène Lupin on Twitter/X, the ad talks about why you should switch to a Pixel 8 and how easy it is to do so.

The first step is switching phones, and Pixel can transfer your apps, contacts, music, photos, and videos, as well as messages, whether they are SMS, iMessage, or WhatsApp.

Following are the features Pixel brings to the table, with a heavy focus on AI given that’s where Google’s attention is clearly focused. A new version of “Best Take” uses AI to change faces in photos, a somewhat controversial feature. Compared to the previous leak, this example offers a much better view of the final product – the previous leaks seem like a bad example, but I guess we’ll have to wait until we see this feature in action before making a proper judgment.

The Magic Eraser is also highlighted, with a note that it works on photos from your previous device, and Google’s other apps and Pixel products (like the Watch and Buds) are also mentioned.

Lupin also shared ads for Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8 separately. Pro’s ad emphasizes features such as Video Boost, Night Sight Video, Audio Eraser, Best Take, and Pro Controls. It covers both camera features and Safety Checks in its advertisement for the Pixel 8.

Apple acknowledge the overheating problems on iPhone 15 Pro series will soon roll out an OTA update to fix it.

In response to issues plaguing iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max variants since they went on sale, Apple appears to be accelerating the process of addressing them. There have been reports of overheating and discoloration in units all over the world. Apple recently acknowledged that its latest Pro models had discoloration issues. According to an interview with Forbes, Apple has confirmed a fix for the iPhone 15 Pro’s overheating issues is on the way.

Apple’s A17 Pro processor powers the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. It has six cores of CPU and six cores of GPU. Resident Evil, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and other console-level games can also be run on the processor.

There are a few factors that contribute to the iPhone 15 Pro becoming warmer than expected, according to the Cupertino-based tech giant. During the first few days after setting up or restoring, the computer may run like that due to intense background activity. To put it simply, the new device works overtime and over-temperature to redownload all the data from the previous device as quickly as possible.

There’s more to it than that. Additionally, Apple has identified a bug in iOS 17 that will be fixed via a software update. The system is also overloaded by updates to third-party apps.

Due to Apple’s acknowledgment of overheating issues, there can be no assumption that the iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max is at fault. It won’t be a long time before users have to deal with this. Due to built-in protections against overheating, iPhones and iPads’ long-term performance won’t be adversely affected.

By regulating the temperature, it protects its components in the event of a temperature increase.

Microsoft already working on Windows 12 OS web-version to take on Chrome OS.

Windows 11

Several sources close to the company claim that Microsoft is developing a web-oriented variant of Windows 12. It will be tailored for specific markets, including the educational sector, and will be a “true” answer to Chrome OS.

Windows 12 will not replace the traditional Win32 desktop experience, but it will offer a lighter, more modern, and modular alternative for low-end educational devices.

Windows 11

It has already been announced that Microsoft is forming a new team, “Windows and Web Experience”, to develop the next generation of Windows and web products. Moreover, Microsoft plans to “define and deliver the next generation of Windows experiences and applications that span across client and cloud environments”.

Additionally, Windows Latest reports that the web-focused variant of Windows 12 will heavily rely on Microsoft Edge and artificial intelligence. To make Microsoft Edge more intelligent and understand web content and user behavior, for example, Microsoft is reportedly exploring ways to use AI. The development of Windows 12 is expected to be significantly influenced by this integration.

In recent years, Microsoft has worked to modernize Windows and decouple its component layers in order to make it more lightweight. The Windows 10X operating system is an example of this work, which was intended as a competitor to Chrome OS. It was never commercialized, remaining an experimental product.

As for Windows 12, it is expected to arrive in 2024 with a web-focused interface. Microsoft is clearly serious about competing with Chrome OS in education, and it remains to be seen what other features and improvements the new variant will include.

Apple to use the same chipset with slight variation on all models of iPhone 16 series later next year.

According to supply chain analyst Jeff Pu, Apple is expected to ditch its current practice of using older chipsets in its iPhone models and instead use A18 chips in all four iPhone 16 models.

Apple’s iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are powered by the same A16 Bionic chip used in last year’s iPhone 14 Pro. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max feature TSMC’s 3nm-based A17 Pro chip.

The A18 chip will be used for all four iPhone 16 models, which will be manufactured using TSMC’s second-generation 3nm chip fabrication process, called N3E. In comparison to TSMC’s first-generation 3nm process, N3B, used for the A17 Pro chip in the iPhone 15 Pro, this process will be less expensive and yield will improve.

Pu also predicted which chipsets will be used in each iPhone 16 model. According to him, the standard iPhone 16 models will get the A18 chip, while the Pro models will get the A18 Pro chip. N3E is TSMC’s process for fabricating chips, as mentioned earlier.

It’s important to note that Pu is probably making an educated guess about the marketing names since the iPhone 16 lineup is still a year away. Whether Apple will actually use the A18 and A18 Pro branding or stick with its recent A17 and A18 Pro branding remains to be seen. Pu has a good record when it comes to predicting Apple’s plans, despite the uncertainty about the marketing names.
