According to a recent ET News rumour, Samsung may be getting ready for one of its most extensive display redesigns yet with the next Galaxy S26 Ultra. Although these improvements might not be available for all models in the series, the top-end model in the 2026 range is anticipated to launch with new OLED technology that offers more brightness, improved efficiency, and thinner displays.

According to reports, the S26 Ultra will make use of CoE (Colour filter on encapsulation) technology in conjunction with Samsung Display’s M14 material set. When combined, these adjustments might increase brightness over 2,600 nits or provide the same brightness while using less electricity.

CoE incorporates the colour filter right into the OLED encapsulation layer, in contrast to existing M13-based panels, which employ polarisers that increase thickness and energy consumption. To improve contrast, a new “Black Pixel Define Layer” significantly minimises reflections. According to reports, the M14 update also adds Deuterium hosts to all red, green, and blue emitters, increasing panel longevity and efficiency.

Remarkably, M14 is also rumoured to be used by Apple’s iPhone 17 series, although Samsung’s inclusion of CoE may offer its Ultra model a distinct advantage. Additional features like a “Private Display” mode, which restricts viewing angles to shield on-screen material from prying eyes, are also being discussed.

But according to the article, these improvements will only be made to the S26 Ultra. It is anticipated that Samsung would continue to save its most cutting-edge technology for the Ultra tier with the Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge, sticking with M13 displays.

Although Samsung has not verified these rumours, if true, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s early 2026 release might establish a new benchmark for flagship screens.
