If the latest leaks are to be believed, Apple’s first foldable iPhone could arrive with an extensive inner display – and Samsung apparently doesn’t plan to sit that one out.

A new report claims Samsung is preparing its own “wide” foldable to go head‑to‑head with Apple’s device. The Korean giant is said to be working on a foldable phone featuring a 7.6-inch OLED inner screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The device will reportedly follow a passport-style design, similar to current book-style foldables but with a noticeably squarer internal panel.

Those dimensions and proportions are rumoured to be very close to what Apple is planning for the so‑called iPhone Fold, which is expected to come with a 7.58-inch inner display.

On the outside, Samsung’s new foldable is tipped to include a 5.4-inch cover display. The device is also said to support 25W wired charging, though the report doesn’t provide details on battery capacity or other hardware specifications.

These claims line up with an earlier leak from last week, which surfaced images of what was described as Samsung’s “wide” foldable phone. According to that leak, Samsung had shown illustrations of an unreleased foldable device in a survey exploring different foldable form factors, hinting that the company is actively testing wider, more tablet-like designs.

If accurate, Samsung’s upcoming wide foldable could mark a shift away from the tall, narrow inner screens seen on current Galaxy Z Fold models, and toward a more productivity-friendly canvas that better resembles a small tablet when opened.

As always with leaks, none of this is official yet, and plans can change before launch. Still, with both Apple and Samsung seemingly working on wider foldables, 2026 could be a key year for the next generation of foldable phone designs.
