The Dimensity 9500, MediaTek’s newest flagship processor, has been revealed. According to the company, it raises the bar for on-device AI, gaming, and battery efficiency.
All Big Core:
The ‘All Big Core’ architecture of the latest generation Arm CPU cores powers the Dimensity 9500. Its octa-core architecture consists of four C1-Pro cores, three C1-Premium cores, and one Arm C1-Ultra core clocked at 4.21GHz.
According to MediaTek, this chip outperforms the Dimensity 9400 by 32% in single-core and 17% in multi-core tasks. At optimum performance, the ultra core can reduce power consumption by up to 55%. Additionally, it is claimed that the 9500 can multitask up to 30% more effectively. Additionally, Armv9.3 supports new SME2 instructions for improved ML efficiency and AI perception performance. Additionally, the new 4-channel UFS 4.1 storage capability of the Dimensity 9500 promises 100% faster sequential data throughput.
Arm G1-Ultra GPU
The new Arm G1-Ultra GPU, which MediaTek says offers up to 33% more peak performance and 42% more power efficiency, is a feature of the Dimensity 9500. It claims up to 112% quicker ray tracing performance and has twice as many ray tracing units. It supports ray-traced gameplay with interpolation at up to 120 frames per second. Additionally, Unreal Engine 5’s MegaLights and Nanite capabilities, as well as Vulkan’s ray tracing process, are supported.
Super Efficient NPU
MediaTek’s ninth-generation NPU 990 with Generative AI Engine 2.0, which boasts twice the computational capacity of its predecessor, and BitNet 1.58-bit big model processing, which uses up to 33% less power, are features of the Dimensity 9500.
Users can expect 100% faster 3 billion parameter LLM output, 128K token processing, and 4K image production, with double the integer and floating-point computing capabilities. At peak performance, the power consumption is lowered by 56%. With its first-of-its-kind integrated compute-in-memory design, the new Super Efficient NPU lowers power consumption and allows AI models to operate constantly.
MediaTek Imagiq 1190 ISP
The new MediaTek Imagiq 1190 ISP in the Dimensity 9500 supports up to 200MP RAW-domain pre-processing, continuous focus tracking at 30 frames per second, and a new portrait engine with 4K 60 frames per second. The most recent MiraVision Adaptive Display functionality is also supported.
Connectivity:
Lastly, 5CC carrier aggregation increases bandwidth by 15%, while the Dimensity 9500 uses 10% less power in 5G and 20% less in Wi-Fi settings. AI congestion prediction reduces network latency by 50% and increases accuracy by 20% in location and network selection technologies.
On premium smartphones, the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 will face off against the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Later this year, this processor is anticipated to be seen in the Vivo X300 and the forthcoming Oppo Find X9 Pro.
