September is anticipated to see the release of the next generation of Android flagship chips. During the September 23 Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 would be released.

The new Dimensity 9500 will be unveiled on September 22, one day before Qualcomm’s Snapdragon event, according to tipster Digital Chat Station.

Qualcomm’s chip has already shown some preliminary benchmark results in a phone that looks to be the Galaxy S26 Edge. Although the results were preliminary, they provided us with a general understanding of its strength.

It is anticipated that both new chips will employ TSMC’s most recent 3nm process, which should increase their speed and power efficiency. They have different designs, though.

For the Dimensity 9500, MediaTek will utilise ARM’s standard CPU and GPU designs. Four Cortex-X930S (three with slightly lower clock speeds) and four Cortex-A730S are anticipated to be included in the combination. Conversely, Qualcomm is developing unique Oryon cores for the 8 Elite 2.

Additionally, the fastest cores of the Dimensity 9500 may operate at 4.00GHz, which is faster than the Dimensity 9400 from the previous year but still less than Qualcomm’s rumoured 4.74GHz for the 8 Elite 2. The 12-core Mali-G1 Ultra GPU on the chip is likely to remain unchanged.

MediaTek’s solution is said to achieve over 3,900 in single-core and over 11,000 in multi-core tests on Geekbench 6 with this configuration.

Support for ARM’s Scalable Matrix Extension (SME) may be another noteworthy improvement. This could significantly improve multi-core performance and make the Dimensity 9500 much more capable of handling demanding computing tasks.
