Some information on Qualcomm’s next SM8845 CPU has been made public via a recent leak from Digital Chat Station, a reliable source. It’s not the Snapdragon 8s Gen 5, which DCS stated wouldn’t be released this year, or even the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (that’s the SM8850). Instead, the SM8845 will elevate Qualcomm’s SoC family to a new level.

According to a previous report, the processor may be called the Snapdragon 8 Plus and would be a less expensive variant of Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.

According to the tipster, the SM8845 will have a completely custom core architecture that is constructed from the ground up around enormous cores. Just one generation later, the company is switching its own Oryon cores from the Snapdragon 8 Elite from the previous year to a new sub-premium line. Additionally, all of those large cores may operate at a minimum of 3GHz.

The N3P process from TSMC, the same production node that the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is expected to employ, may be used in this chip. According to certain rumors, Qualcomm is also pilfering some of the 8 Elite 2’s expensive components.

Additionally, the leak reveals that businesses such as Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus are already developing devices that make use of the SM8845. Additionally, it appears that they are making significant investments in batteries, since specific models are anticipated to have packs as large as 8,000mAh.

The Snapdragon 8 Plus is expected to go on sale in Q4 2025. Qualcomm has not yet provided any confirmation, but we’ll keep you informed as more details become available.
