Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship SoC in September at the Snapdragon Summit in Maui, Hawaii, where it also introduced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 without providing specifics and said it would debut in 2025. Qualcomm’s Chinese branch announced today that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC will launch on November 26.
While Qualcomm didn’t reveal the complete specs and features of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, back in September, it described the SoC as one designed “to give you more choice and flexibility.”
Later, Qualcomm confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is built on a 3nm process, but that its prime and performance cores have maximum clock speeds of 3.8GHz and 3.32GHz, respectively. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5’s prime cores run at up to 4.6GHz, while its performance cores run at up to 3.62GHz.
According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will also come in a 2+6 configuration like its Elite counterpart. In other words, there are two prime cores and six performance cores. According to the tipster, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will use the Adreno 840 GPU, but its performance won’t match that of the Elite chip.
