Samsung is preparing a direct rival to Apple’s first foldable iPhone. Alongside the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8, the company is expected to launch a wider variant, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide, this summer.
Unlike the regular Fold8, the Fold8 Wide features a broader, more tablet-like inner display rather than a near-square shape. This should make the big screen more practical for videos, multitasking, and productivity, mirroring what’s rumoured for Apple’s so‑called iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra.

Codenamed H8 and carrying model number SM-F971U, the Fold8 Wide borrows its design cues—especially the camera island—from the Galaxy S25 Edge. Internally, it’s said to be very close to the standard Fold8, with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip, a 5,000 mAh battery, and 45W wired charging.
Because of its different proportions, the main folding screen is expected to be 7.6 inches, while the cover display measures 5.4 inches. The device reportedly measures 123.9 x 164.4 x 4.9 mm unfolded and 123.9 x 82.2 x 9.8 mm folded, with the camera bump bringing the thickness up to 14.6 mm.
Pricing is rumoured to be very close to the regular Fold8, suggesting Samsung sees the Fold8 Wide as an alternative layout rather than a separate, more expensive tier.
