Samsung’s next big foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold8, is shaping up to be a substantial upgrade if a new leak is to be believed. The device is expected to debut in mid-2026, likely around July, roughly a year after the Galaxy Z Fold7’s debut.

According to a tipster posting on X, the Fold8 will feature a larger 8-inch inner folding display, paired with a 6.5-inch cover screen. Both panels are said to support 120Hz refresh rates. Samsung is reportedly using a dual-layer UTG (Ultra-Thin Glass) solution for the main display, along with a laser-drilled metal support plate underneath, which should improve durability and rigidity.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is rumoured to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, Qualcomm’s next flagship chipset customised for Samsung. Performance and efficiency should see a notable bump compared to the Fold7’s platform.
Camera-wise, the Fold8 is tipped to come with a 200MP primary sensor of the 1/1.3″ type, accompanied by a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 10MP telephoto module offering 3x optical zoom. A vapour chamber is also said to be part of the package, helping keep temperatures under control during heavy use, such as gaming or extended camera sessions.
The battery capacity is rumoured to reach 5,000 mAh, with support for 45W wired fast charging. That aligns with earlier whispers about a capacity bump over the Fold7. The Fold8 will reportedly be sold in multiple memory and storage configurations: 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of internal storage. On top of that, the new model is expected to be slimmer and lighter than its predecessor, addressing two of the main complaints often aimed at book-style foldables.
Interestingly, there’s a bit of conflict between recent leaks. While this latest information suggests the Fold8 keeps a 10MP 3x telephoto camera, an earlier rumour claimed Samsung would be upgrading the zoom hardware compared to the Fold7. With the two reports contradicting each other, it’s unclear which one will prove accurate.
