A fresh set of CAD-based renders has given us our clearest look yet at Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8, following yesterday’s big leak of its core specs.

At first glance, the Fold8 doesn’t stray far from the visual language of last year’s Galaxy Z Fold7. According to the leaked information, even the display sizes remain unchanged, reinforcing the idea that this generation is more about refinement than radical redesign.

As for physical dimensions, the leaked CAD data pegs the Fold8 at approximately 158.4 x 143.2 x 4.5 mm when unfolded, and 158.4 x 72.8 x 9 mm when folded. The source stresses that these are approximate figures, but if they hold, the new model comes out slightly thicker than the Fold7. That said, the leaker notes that the final hardware could end up being thinner, or effectively the same thickness, once everything is finalised. The camera island is claimed to protrude by about 5.5 mm.

Specs:

Where Samsung seems to be focusing its efforts is under the hood. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is expected to house a larger 5,000 mAh battery, a noticeable 600 mAh bump over its predecessor. Charging speeds are getting a boost too, with wired charging reportedly going up to 45W from the Fold7’s 25W, which should translate into quicker top-ups.

The camera system is also in line for an upgrade. The ultrawide camera is rumoured to move from 12MP to a higher-resolution 50MP unit, signalling that Samsung wants its foldables’ secondary cameras to better match the main shooter’s quality.

In terms of pricing, the Fold8 is said to remain in the same price bracket as the Fold7, suggesting Samsung isn’t planning any dramatic price hikes for this model.

All in all, based on these early renders and specs, the Galaxy Z Fold8 appears to be an incremental update: familiar design, same-size screens, but with a bigger battery, faster charging, and a more capable ultrawide camera—while aiming to keep the same price point as last year’s Fold7.
