Realme and Redmi are apparently preparing to introduce mid-range smartphones featuring powerful 200-megapixel primary cameras, according to recent leaks and certification listings.
A new TENAA listing has confirmed that the Realme 16 Pro will feature a 200MP primary sensor, further suggesting that the camera race in this segment is intensifying. Well-known tipster Smart Pikachu has also indicated that the upcoming Redmi Note 16 series will join the 200MP club. However, this advanced camera setup is expected to be reserved for the higher-end Note 16 Pro and Pro+ variants, skipping the regular model.
Reports indicate that the Realme 16 Pro will feature a dual-rear-camera configuration with 200MP and 8MP sensors. Its sibling, the 16 Pro+, could inherit a similar arrangement but add a periscope telephoto lens for enhanced zooming capabilities.
Based on previous launch timelines, it is likely that the Redmi Note 16 series will be officially unveiled in August next year, mirroring the pattern seen with the Note 15 lineup. Given the early stage of leaks, more information should emerge as the launch approaches. Meanwhile, initial rumours suggest the Pro models might feature a flat OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a massive 7,500mAh battery for extended usage.
As for Realmeās own timeline, the Realme 16 series, according to its TENAA certification, could be announced as early as late this month or in January 2026. It is anticipated that the series will make its global debut shortly thereafter, bringing its advanced camera hardware to international markets.
