A new leak out of China suggests Xiaomi is about to expand its flagship 17 series with a new member: the Xiaomi 17 Max. The standout feature? A massive 8,000 mAh battery, the largest in the entire Xiaomi 17 family.
Despite the huge capacity, Xiaomi isn’t compromising on charging speeds. The 17 Max is said to support 100W wired charging along with 50W wireless charging, putting it firmly in flagship territory when it comes to power tech.
Under the hood, the phone will reportedly be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. On the front, it’s expected to feature a display with extremely slim, perfectly symmetrical bezels, giving it a very clean, modern look. The camera island design is rumoured to closely follow that of the standard Xiaomi 17, so the two should look quite similar from the back.
In terms of cameras, the Xiaomi 17 Max is said to reuse the same main sensor found on the regular Xiaomi 17, but it will add a periscope telephoto camera on top. Thanks to this extra hardware, overall image quality is claimed to be slightly better than that of the vanilla 17, especially at zoom.
There’s still no concrete launch date for the Xiaomi 17 Max. However, with leaks already surfacing, more details will likely emerge soon. Expect a steady flow of rumours and teasers in the near future.
