Vivo’s latest S50 series, which includes the standard S50 and the S50 Pro Mini, is gearing up for an official launch, with a widely cited Weibo post pointing to December 15 as the unveiling date. While Vivo itself hasn’t confirmed the precise timeline, the tech community is abuzz with anticipation, especially following several teasers that offer a glimpse into both devices’ designs and highlight features.
Vivo S50: Expected Features
Rumours suggest the Vivo S50 will feature a 6.59-inch OLED screen with a crisp 1.5K resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Geekbench listings hint that the S50 will pack the powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip under the hood. It is paired with a whopping 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and state-of-the-art UFS 4.1 storage.



For camera enthusiasts, the S50 could impress with its 50MP selfie shooter. There is a sophisticated triple-camera arrangement on the back, headlined by a Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto lens. The phone is expected to run on Vivo’s customised OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 and is rumoured to support ultra-fast 90W charging.

Thanks to Vivo’s promotional teasers, the S50 Pro Mini’s core specs are already out in the open. This variant will feature a slightly smaller, flat 6.31-inch AMOLED display. It will be driven by the high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor. Just like its sibling, it will offer up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.
On the photography front, the S50 Pro Mini boasts an advanced rear camera system. With a VCS primary sensor, the acclaimed Sony IMX882 periscope lens, and an ultra-wide unit. The front hosts a 50MP camera optimised to reduce distortion for more accurate selfies.
Rounding out the features, the S50 Pro Mini will feature a robust 6,500mAh battery that supports blazing 90W wired charging. There is also convenient 40W wireless charging. Extra perks include an upgraded ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, IP68/69 water and dust resistance, and an X-axis linear motor designed for responsive haptic feedback.
