Apple’s first foray into foldable smartphones could be just around the corner, with industry whispers suggesting a launch next year. While the device – tentatively called the iPhone Fold – is generating buzz, don’t expect it to come cheap. According to a recent analysis by Fubon Research, which factored in supply chain trends and Apple’s notorious markup, the iPhone Fold could cost $2,399.

For comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7 starts at $1,999, underscoring Apple’s decision to price its version even higher. Analysts attribute the premium to the cost of advanced display technology, intricate hinge engineering, and lightweight materials used in the iPhone Fold.

Despite the steep price, Fubon Research projects strong demand, with sales expected to reach 15.4 million units, of which 5.4 million are likely to move in 2026 alone.

Rumoured features include a seamless 7.58-inch foldable display with no visible crease and a secondary 5.8-inch cover screen. There’s even talk of a battery larger than what’s found in the current iPhone 17 Pro Max, which would mark a first for Apple’s lineup.

While Apple is betting big on its upcoming foldable, it’ll be interesting to see how the market reacts to what could be the most expensive iPhone ever. Only time will tell if fans are ready to embrace this next evolution in smartphone design.
