Vivo announced OriginOS five years ago as its next-generation operating system – and it did, but only in China. That is, until now. OriginOS has gone global, as you may have heard.
This is happening with the newly introduced version 6, which runs Android 16.
Vivo X300 and X300 Pro will debut with the new OS version, but we don’t have details on when they might be released globally.
vivo X Fold5, vivo X200 series, iQOO 13, and iQOO Neo10 series are also set to get OriginOS 6. The company will begin updating older models next month and continue into 2026.
The new version focuses on buttery smoothness. The app starts faster and data loads faster, improving frame rate stability. There is a brand-new animation engine with several animation styles that align with the new design language.
With Origin Design, visual elements on the screen are unified. A new font is bespoke and there is a lot of transparency and blur. For improved readability, Vivo Sans supports over 40 languages.
Origin Island integrates with Live Updates, a new feature in Android 16. With Copy & Go, you can call or message a phone number directly, while with Drag & Go, you can edit an image without leaving the app. It can remain visible on top of the screen and provide instant access to contextually relevant actions.
Vivo AI also plays a key role in the new UI. Vivo integrated the Gemini chatbot and Circle to search in close collaboration with Google.
OriginOS 6 will be rolled out in November. For a detailed timeline, see What’s New. This will happen in phases – meaning some markets will get it before others.
