Apple has also launched an all-new iPhone 17 Pro lineup this year. Finally, the new iPhone 17 Pro series will arrive with new colours along with a new design. So let’s start with the most powerful iPhone ever.
Display & Design:
The new iPhone 16 Pro will sport a larger 6.3-inch OLED display, whereas the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a larger 6.9-inch OLED display. Both of them come with a pill-shaped notch over the top carrying the Face ID. It has the largest battery of any iPhone, a bright new orange colour, and an aluminium unibody construction. The device arrives in cosmic orange, deep blue, and silver.
The new iPhone 17 Pro & iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature a new Super Retina XDR display, boasting a resolution of 2796x1290p (iPhone 17 Pro Max) & 2556*1179p (iPhone 17 Pro). Additionally, they will come with new protection on top, courtesy of Ceramic Shield. It comes with a ProMotion display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The new notch feature, which takes the space between the pill, is called Dynamic Island. This space has now been utilised to show notifications like Music players, Navigation, Messages, or any app that uses GPS for almost everything. It also features Always On Display, allowing you to get the latest updates without even touching the screen.
Both phones do come with an IP68 rating, making them dust and water-resistant. The new iPhones are 8.25mm thick and weigh a few grams more than their predecessors.
Processor:
Apple’s most powerful iPhone processor to date is the A19 Pro. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max may achieve up to 40% greater sustained performance than the previous generation when combined with the Apple-designed vapour chamber.
This makes the device perfect for gaming, video editing, and running big local language models. The 6-core GPU design has more memory than the A18 Pro, a bigger cache, and neural accelerators integrated into each GPU core, making it the fastest CPU in any smartphone. Higher frame rates and hardware-accelerated ray tracing are made possible by the GPU’s collaboration with the new 16-core Neural Engine, which powers AAA games like Arknights: Endfield, Al models, and breathtaking visuals.
Cameras:
The iPhone 17 Pro & iPhone 17 Pro Max will come with triple rear cameras, featuring a main sensor, an ultra-wide sensor & telephoto lens with LED flash. It also includes the LiDAR sensor from the iPad Pro, which will improve Auto Focus in low light. iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max features a quad-pixel 48MP Wide primary sensor with f/1.78 aperture, 24mm and a 48MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture, 120-degrees FOV, 13mm focal length, Dual OIS along with 48MP f/1.78 aperture telephoto lens with 8x zoom.
The iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max feature a 48MP (f/2.8) telephoto lens with 120mm with 8x optical zoom, OIS, 3D sensor‑shift optical image stabilisation and autofocus, and a tetraprism design. The device will also get Deep Fusion, Smart HDR 4, and improved Night Mode. It will also support Dolby Vision HDR video recording capabilities.
The picture pipeline employs additional machine learning with the upgraded Photonic Engine to decrease noise, maintain natural detail, and deliver noticeably better colour accuracy. Additionally, users can use next-generation photographic styles to customise further their images, such as the Bright style, which is new in iOS 26 and enhances skin tones and adds a burst of vibrancy to the image. The digital zoom now rises to 40x for photos.
The iPhone is already the market leader in smartphone video capture thanks to its robust features, which include Dolby Vision HDR recording, 4K120 fps, ProRes Log, and compatibility for ACES. Being the first smartphones to support ProRes RAW, Log 2, and genlock—a method for precisely synchronising footage across numerous cameras and inputs—the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max open up even more creative options. Without the need to manually align frames one by one, this enables creatives to achieve sophisticated creative approaches and precise, polished transitions. Final Cut Camera and Blackmagic Camera support ProRes RAW, and the new Blackmagic Design Camera ProDock supports Genlock. Developers may use these APIs.
Both iPhones ship with 18MP f/2.2 aperture selfie cameras with FaceID support.
Connectivity & Battery:
Both devices will come with MagSafe charging, aka 15W wireless and 40W wired charging support. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will boast 5G connectivity exclusive to US models & will support the faster mmWave standard. Apple will introduce Smart Data Mode, which automatically switches between 4G and 5G networks based on the app’s bandwidth usage to extend battery life.
The connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, Bluetooth 5.3, USB Type-C, and Dual SIM with 5G support. It will also come with a new U2 UWB SoC. It runs on iOS 26 out of the box. The device also comes with Emergency SOS via satellite.

The new iPhone 17 Pro price starts at $999 (Rs . 73,000/-) for the base 256GB & $1099 (Rs . 80,500/-) for the iPhone 17 Pro Max with 256GB. Both devices will come in three storage options 256GB/512GB/1TB. The new iPhone 16 Pro Max & the iPhone 16 Pro will go on sale from Sept 19.
