The most significant design shift in recent memory is brought about by the iPhone Air, which fully embraces the long-forgotten emphasis on thin and light phones. It is the thinnest iPhone to date, measuring 5.6mm. “A paradox you have to hold to believe” is how Apple describes it.

Today, Apple revealed its next iPhone range, which will begin with the entry-level iPhone 17. The iPhone 17 has several improvements, including an improved front and back camera and an updated display.

iPhone Air:

It features a large 6.5-inch LTPO Super Retina OLED display with a ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate, effectively replacing the less popular iPhone 16 Plus. It also has up to 3,000 nits of brightness and the upgraded Ceramic Shield 2 protection.

Some compromises had to be made to achieve the thin and light design, the most noticeable of which was the placement of Apple’s single 48MP camera around the back. A front-facing 18MP camera with Centre Stage is also included.

However, Apple isn’t sacrificing performance. The brand-new Apple A19 Pro processor powers the iPhone Air. It has a 5-core GPU in addition to a 6-core CPU. According to Apple, the iPhone Air will perform on par with the MacBook Pro.

Not only that, but the iPhone Air is also introducing the Apple N1 chip, which offers Bluetooth 6.0 and Wi-Fi 7. The Apple C1X modem, which is 30% more energy-efficient than the Qualcomm Snapdragon X71 modem found in the iPhone 16 Pro and twice as fast as the C1 modem, joins it.

The iPhone Air will have “all-day battery life,” while Apple does not specify the precise battery capacity. Apple is introducing an optional low-profile MagSafe battery that can play videos for 40 hours. Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue are the available colours for the iPhone Air.

Pricing:

The basic model with 256GB of storage starts at $999 and will go on sale in the US and other first-wave nations on September 19. In India the iPhone Air starts at Rs.1,19,999/- for 256GB, 512GB at Rs.1,39,999/- and 1TB at Rs.1,59,999/-.

iPhone 17:

ProMotion high-refresh rate capability is available for the first time on the bigger 6.3-inch display of the new iPhone 17. To display your lock screen in a darkened state, it also offers always-on mode. Additionally, the new A19 processor powers the iPhone 17 for enhanced CPU and GPU performance. More new features are here.

There are six cores in the A19 CPU. Apple claims that the GPU’s performance has improved as well, and it is 20% quicker than the A18 processor found in the iPhone 16 from the previous year.

Additionally, the brightness of the iPhone 17’s display has been increased to 3,000 nits. Additionally, a new anti-reflective coating makes the iPhone easier to view in dim indoor and outdoor conditions. With a new Ceramic Shield 2 cover glass, the phone is protected from knocks and drops.

Apple has redesigned the front selfie camera with a new sensor that is roughly twice as large as the previous one in terms of the camera system. Additionally, according to Apple, the sensor is set up to capture selfies in any position.

In fact, you don’t need to spin your device to shoot a landscape selfie physically. Apple refers to this function as Centre Stage, which allows the aspect ratio to shift automatically when the phone detects other persons in the picture.

There are still two camera lenses on the back of the phone. However, a new 48-megapixel sensor with greater quality has been added to the ultra-wide lens.

Pricing:

Five additional colours—black, white, mist blue, sage, and lavender—are now available for the iPhone 17. The iPhone 17 has 256 GB of storage and is still priced at $799. In India, the iPhone 17 costs Rs. 82,900/- for the 256GB variant and Rs . 1,02,900/- for the 512GB variant.
