Xiaomi typically rolls out a pair of high-end smartphones each autumn in China, followed by a global debut of the standard model in February alongside the Ultra variant.

That pattern is shifting this year, with rumours pointing to a trio of flagships hitting the scene in the fall rather than the usual duo. However, this extra model isn’t the 16 Ultra—that one’s still on deck for a later reveal. Instead, expect the Xiaomi 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max, where the base and Pro likely sport similar compact displays, and the Pro Max steps up with premium features.

The group has recently cleared certification hurdles in China, shedding light on their power delivery: each supports 100W fast wired charging, a modest bump from the 90W seen in last year’s Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro. It’s not a massive leap, but every bit counts. Leaks suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 from Qualcomm will power all three, with its official introduction slated for the end of September.

On that note, Xiaomi is expected to lead the pack in showcasing gadgets featuring this new silicon, potentially just days after Qualcomm’s showcase in late September. As for international availability, that’s likely to be pushed back to next year, although it’s uncertain which of these three will make it beyond China’s borders.
