The most recent leak seems to confirm the chipset of Samsung’s 2026 flagship, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which has been in the news for a while.

SamMobile discovered that the firmware for the Galaxy S26 Ultra contains a reference to “qcom, pmk8850,” which could indicate that Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip will power the upcoming Ultra model.

This is probably a successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which in the S25 Ultra carried the identifier SM8750. What “pmk” (as opposed to the more common “SM”) means is still unknown, though. Is it a reference to the rumoured 2nm version of the chip made by Samsung? We’ll have to wait and see. In any case, the leak increases the possibility of another Ultra model that is only compatible with Snapdragon.

According to early performance estimates, there has been a significant improvement over the previous generation, with industry-leading GPU capabilities and up to 25% better overall performance. In September, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset is anticipated to be formally unveiled.

According to rumours, the S26 Ultra will have a large 6.9-inch OLED screen with better colour accuracy and brightness, a 200MP primary camera with a wider aperture, and a 50MP 5x periscope zoom lens. Customers can choose between 12GB and 16GB of RAM, and a 5,000mAh battery and quicker 60W charging might significantly enhance daily use.
