Samsung might raise Galaxy A series prices in India

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A37 and A57 are expected to debut next month. Typically, when new models arrive, the existing ones get a price cut. This time, though, a new report suggests Samsung is planning the opposite for its Galaxy A lineup in India.

According to the latest tip, most Galaxy A models will become around INR 1,000 more expensive in the country. The Galaxy A56 is reportedly set to see an even steeper price hike, with its price reportedly increasing by roughly INR 2,000. These revised prices could kick in as early as the following Monday.

The most likely driver behind the change is the rising cost of memory chips. Social media has been full of jokes and memes about shortages in the memory market. Still, the underlying issue is serious: demand for HBM and DDR5 DRAM has surged as AI data centres scale up, driving up component prices.

If memory costs are indeed behind Samsung’s decision, it wouldn’t be surprising to see other brands follow suit and adjust pricing upward. We’re already seeing signs of this trend at the higher end of the market — several recent flagships, such as the OnePlus 15, the Poco F8 lineup, vivo’s X300 series, and the iQOO 15, have all launched with higher price tags than their predecessors.
