In recent months, we have witnessed an increasing number of smartphones using Tele-Macro. This function allows the phone to take macro photos using the telephoto camera rather than the ultrawide sensor. Now, though, it appears to be making a comeback.
This year, Google plans to enhance the Pixel 10 series’ 5x telephoto sensor with macro capabilities, a significant advancement in macro photography.
Interestingly, Google is keeping the ultrawide sensor’s macro capabilities. This is because the minimum focusing distance of the telephoto sensor is greater than that of the ultrawide. Therefore, the lens that the Pixel 10 uses will depend on how far away you are from the subject.
Actually, this is a reasonably smart move on Google’s part. In terms of optics, telephoto sensors are usually superior to ultrawide sensors, supplying a higher-quality macro photograph. You may also go closer to the subject while utilising the telephoto sensor, which is excellent for photographing insects. However, it also implies that you or the camera won’t block the light. Remember that a nice shot from macro photography does require a sufficient amount of light.
