On May 27, OnePlus will launch the Ace 5 Extreme Edition (Ace 5 Ultra) in China. Weibo has already teased key hardware details and revealed some of the main camera specifications. Sony’s IMX906 flagship sensor will be the device’s primary camera, backed by advanced image processing algorithms.

With a large 1/1.56-inch size and 4-in-1 pixel binning technology, the IMX906 delivers an adequate 2.0μm pixel size. Honor 100 Pro was the first device to use this sensor, and Redmi K70 Ultra and OnePlus Ace 5 Pro have since followed. This camera is designed to capture detailed textures with higher accuracy in low-light conditions, improve dynamic range, and improve low-light performance.

The Ace 5 Extreme Edition’s camera system includes Shadow-Free Snapshot, which OnePlus says reduces motion blur when shooting fast-moving subjects or in mixed lighting. The phone will also support Live Photos for preserving short moments with motion and sound and a portrait mode enhanced by flagship-level computational algorithms. These algorithms will give portrait shots better subject separation, natural lighting, and depth.

Additionally, the phone will feature two other chips: a Lingxia touch control chip with a 3000Hz touch response rate, and a G1 Wi-Fi gaming chip that minimises network latency during online gaming. The device is claimed to sustain five hours of continuous gaming with an average frame rate of 118.3 FPS in low frame rate scenarios of 1%. It has a 6.83-inch flat esports display with a 2800×1272 resolution and a refresh rate of up to 144Hz.
