Zhou Yibao, Oppo’s Find series head, keeps the hype train rolling for its forthcoming Find X8 series. Zhou shared some initial specs for the new phones on Weibo today, revealing a new “AI imaging” feature.

Zhou shows a photo of a cultural relic from the Chengdu Museum in a video posted on the platform. On the surface of the artefact, there is a noticeable reflection in the original image.

With the AI imaging feature, however, the reflection vanishes seamlessly, leaving a clean and glare-free image.

According to Yibao, this feature is designed to prevent reflections and glare from ruining the shot. You might capture sunsets through office windows, or clouds during a flight, or take in the scenery while commuting.

Even though the cultural relic demonstration appeared to be relatively straightforward, Zhou invited users to share pictures with stubborn reflections. To remove glares from these images, he specifically mentions using his “Oppo Find X8.”

User-submitted photos showed even more impressive results. It was particularly impressive that the AI tool was able to eliminate streaks and stains from car windows in a particularly challenging scenario. Below are a few other examples.

There is also an IR blaster and an NFC card-cutting feature on the Find X8 series. It is possible to control a variety of smart home devices with the former.

On the other hand, NFC smart card cutting makes use of location awareness to automatically switch between NFC cards stored on your phone based on your location. Your phone will automatically switch to your company access card when you approach your workplace, for example.
