The new iPhone series is here almost a year after the launch of the iPhone 14 series we got the new iPhone 15 series. This year Apple has finally ditched the Mini lineup for Plus.

Design & Display:

The new iPhone 15 & iPhone 15 Plus look identical to each other with the smaller notch on the front. Yes, this time both the new iPhone 15 & iPhone 15 Plus come with a new Dynamic Island. The new iPhone 14 Plus will sport a larger 6.7-inch OLED display whereas the iPhone 14 with a smaller 6.1 inches OLED display. Both of them arrive in Black, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Pink colors.

 

On the back, the new iPhone 15 Plus & iPhone 15 will feature the same iPhone 12-like dual rear cameras with a glossy glass back. The only change we noticed is that the cameras are now placed diagonally instead of one above the other. It comes with an iPhone 5-like aluminum chassis to give it a premium look and feel. The iPhone 15 & iPhone 15 Plus measures just 7.8 mm thick. Further, the iPhone 15 weighs 171g and the iPhone 15 Plus weighs 201g.

The new iPhone 15 Plus & iPhone 15 will come with a new Super Retina XDR display with a resolution of 2556x1179p (iPhone 15) & 2796x1290p (iPhone 15 Plus) along with new tougher protection on top with Corning’s latest Victus glass with Ceramic Sheild. Both devices also feature Dolby Vision and HDR 10 support. Both phones do come with an IP68 rating making them dust and water-resistant.

Processor:

The new iPhone 15 Plus & iPhone 15 comes powered by the world’s fastest Apple A15 Bionic SoC. The new Apple A16 Bionic is built on the TSMC 4nm process that gives a great performance. The 6-core CPU utilizes two high-performance cores that use 20 percent less power and four high-efficiency cores to deliver extraordinary battery life while handling intensive tasks. When streaming videos and playing games, the 5-core GPU has 50 percent more memory bandwidth. Nearly 17 trillion operations can be performed per second by a new 16-core Neural Engine

With the second-generation Ultra Wideband chip in both models, two iPhones can connect at three times the range.

Camera:

 

The iPhone 15 Plus & iPhone 15 will come with dual rear cameras with a 48MP Wide main sensor with f/1.6 aperture and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.4 aperture, 120-degrees FOV, 13mm focal length, OIS, and LED flash. This time the device also supports a 12MP telephoto lens with 52mm, f/1.6 aperture & 2x optical zoom with OIS support.

The device will also get Deep Fusion, Smart HDR 4, and improved Night Mode. It will also support Dolby Vision HDR video recording capabilities. Both iPhones ship with 12MP f/2.2 aperture selfie cameras with FaceID support.

Connectivity & Battery:

Both the devices will come with Magsafe charging aka 15W wireless charging support. The entry-level iPhone 15 will boast 5G connectivity exclusive to US models & will support the faster mmWave standard. Apple will introduce Smart Data Mode which toggles between 4G and 5G based on app bandwidth to increase the battery life. The device also comes with Emergency SOS via satellite.

The connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6e, Bluetooth 5.3, A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C port, and Dual SIM with 5G support. Apple will not include the charger and earphones along with the new iPhone 15 series.  It comes with 20W fast charge support. It runs on iOS 17 out of the box.

Pricing:

The new iPhone 15  price starts at $799 (Rs.63,700/-) for base 128GB & $899 (Rs.71,500/-) for iPhone 15 Plus with 128GB. Both devices will come in three storage options 128GB/256GB/512GB. The new iPhone 15 & iPhone 15 Plus will go on sale from Sept 22 in India.
