Audio-Technica is often associated with audiophile headphones and turntables, so its entry into live streaming comes as a surprise.

The ATH-M50xSTS StreamSet takes the classic analog 3.5mm approach, while the ATH-M50xSTS-USB StreamSet offers the digital benefits of a direct USB-C connection.

For connection to an audio interface or mixer, the wired model comes with a permanently attached 2-meter cable with a 3.5 mm headphone jack and XLR microphone connector.

Besides a 2-meter USB-A connection (plus a USB-A to USB-C adapter), the wireless model has a high-quality A/D converter with 24-bit/96 kHz sampling rate, as well as sidetone circuitry.

Both are tailored to meet the needs of live-streaming content creators. With the same 45mm large-aperture drivers as the classic ATH-M50x, they also include mesh and leatherette earpads for breathability and comfort, improving audio quality and sound isolation.

Their design allows them to be worn for hours at a time, which is perfect for those epic live streams.

The ATH-M50xSTS and ATH-M50xSTS-USB feature serious boom mics with cardioid condenser capsules derived from the brand’s 20 Series microphones. “A rich, studio-quality vocal presence with no background noise is promised by Audio-Technica.”

Streamers will also appreciate the fact that this boom mic can be quickly muted by flipping it up and out of the way.
