By the end of October, Samsung will release the OneUI 5 update for the Galaxy S22 series. During Samsung’s Developer Conference 2022, the news was announced.

Android 13 is included in the firmware along with a number of new features, including deeper Material You integration, improved Dynamic theming, Dynamic lock screen, widget stacking, multi-user support for the first time on Samsung devices, and new clever multitasking gestures – double swipes from the bottom for quick split-screens and swipes from the top right corner for pop-ups, text recognition in the Gallery, and privacy settings.

The event showcased Samsung’s Bixby Text Call feature, which lets Bixby Voice answer calls and speaks aloud messages to callers as if you were answering. Multitasking and phone-to-PC connectivity also get improvements in One UI 5 as well as improvements to the Taskbar.

With an October release, Android 13 will reach the Galaxy S21 series a month faster than OneUI 4, which arrived on the Galaxy S20 series in December 2020.

The OneUI 5 Beta 4 for the Galaxy S22 series was just shipped, but it is unclear whether it is the final version.

OneUI 5 will be available for the Galaxy S22 series by the end of October, but market variations are expected. OneUI 5’s full roadmap will be released by the end of the month.
