Next year, Xiaomi will launch the new Redmi Note 12 series in China. The upcoming smartphone’s key feature has been leaked ahead of any official announcement.

Digital Chat Station (a Chinese microblogging site) shared the news via Weibo. According to the online post, the Redmi Note 12 will ship with the new MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset. The new SoC was announced just recently by the Taiwanese chipmaker. During internal testing of the Note 12, Digital Chat Station found that this chip was comparable to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G, a popular mid-range chipset.

AnTuTu reports that Note 12 reportedly scored over 520,000 with this chip. It contains two Cortex A78 cores clocked at 2.6GHz, paired with an ARM Mali G68 GPU, and is manufactured on a 6nm process.

Interestingly, the tipster also previously claimed the Note 12 series would feature a 50MP ultra wide angle lens camera sensor. However, it is unclear which exact model will receive this sensor, but it is likely to be one of the higher-end models. A 2MP macro sensor will be paired with an 8MP ultra wide-angle sensor on Note 12.
