Qualcomm has finally announced the new chipset specifically for tablets and laptops running on Windows 10 basically made for hybrid devices. The new SD850 SoC will now be powering most of the upcoming 2 in 1 laptops and Samsung will be one of the first OEM to implement the new SD850 SoC.

The new SD850 SoC is the successor to the last year announced SD835 SoC and comes with similar specs as SD845 SoC with slightly overclocked CPU which is now clocked at 2.95 GHz and comes with Kyro 385 Gold cores. The SD850 SoC comes with new Qualcomm X20 LTE modem which boosts up the download speed 1.2 gigabits per second LTE connectivity.

The SD850 SoC is also built on the 10nm process when compared with some 14nm SoC present on various 2 in 1. The SD850 SoC boost up the performance by 30% when compared with SD835 and 20% more battery life.

“Building on the portfolio of Always On, Always Connected PCs established over the past year, we are thrilled to work with Samsung to help offer consumers true mobility combined with the productivity and entertainment features of Windows 10,” said Alex Katouzian, senior vice president and general manager, mobile business unit, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
