Reliable leaker Digital Chat Station has shared new details about the roadmap for upcoming flagship smartphones, expanding on an earlier post where he outlined launch windows for next‑gen Dimensity devices. In that previous leak, he suggested that either Oppo or Vivo could roll out a minor refresh flagship as early as September. He also argued that pushing ultra‑premium models back to April might clash with the increasingly rapid pace of chipset refreshes, especially for top‑end “Ultra” phones.
According to him, Xiaomi already offers a good example of how to handle this: the brand usually launches its standard and Pro variants around September, then follows up with the Ultra version toward the end of the year. He believes other manufacturers could gain an advantage by copying this staggered release pattern to stay better aligned with chipset updates.
Pro Max and Ultra flagships: rumored chip choices
In his latest Weibo posts, DCS claims that if Oppo and Vivo go ahead with Pro Max‑branded flagships, these models will likely be powered by MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9600 series. The chip is said to be built on TSMC’s N2P (2nm) process and positioned as a full‑performance flagship platform, suggesting that Pro Max devices could focus on sustained performance and strong scaling.
At the same time, he says Qualcomm’s next Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, reportedly carrying the internal model number SM8975, may be reserved for Ultra‑branded, camera‑centric flagships rather than more mainstream Pro or Pro Max models. In the comments, DCS adds that both the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and its Pro version are expected to use TSMC’s 2nm process, but with clear segmentation: the standard chip for regular flagship refreshes and the Pro variant for top‑tier Ultra devices.
He further notes that several brands under the OV and “H” umbrella are preparing Pro Max models for their next flagship generation. One company, abbreviated as “MH”, has already debuted a Pro Max device this year. In this context, “H” appears to refer to Honor, while “MH” is likely Huawei, which has already introduced the Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max.
