Realme is gearing up to launch the 16 Pro and 16 Pro+ on January 6, and ahead of the event, the company has started talking up the camera systems on both phones. Interestingly, the two models will share the same 200MP main camera, while the 16 Pro+ will also add a telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom.

The main camera relies on Samsung’s HP5 sensor, a 1/1.56-inch unit with an f/1.8 aperture. The Pro+’s telephoto camera uses Samsung’s JN5 sensor. As expected, there’s also an ultrawide camera, and Realme is pitching the Pro+ as offering a “full focal-length imaging system” capable of shooting from 0.6x to 120x. The idea is to give users plenty of flexibility for portraits, street photography, and long-distance shots.

The 200MP primary shooter supports “full-pixel auto zoom” and promises lossless 1x and 2x zoom. On the 16 Pro+, the primary camera is backed by Realme’s LumaColor Image technology, a set of “advanced algorithmic innovations” that the brand recently introduced. According to Realme, this enables more accurate and natural skin tones, improved depth-of-field simulation, and more intelligent handling of lighting and shadows between the subject and background. In theory, that should translate into images with more realistic textures and more dynamic, vivid lighting.

Realme is also touting a set of “class-first” features, including HyperRAW, InstantSnap, and Anti-Distortion algorithms. These are said to improve fine detail, help capture fast-moving scenes more reliably, and minimise distortion toward the edges of the frame across the entire zoom range.

On the video side, the Realme 16 Pro+ can shoot 4K HDR at 1x, 2x, 3.5x, and 7x, as well as 4K 60fps at 1x and 3.5x. The front camera isn’t left behind either, supporting 4K 60fps recording as well.
