Samsung has finally revealed its newest smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 8 series. They are all about making things better. The new series draws many design cues from the Ultra and incorporates a few key software updates along the way. There are slimmer casings, better screens, and more storage options available for everyone, along with the usual health updates, some pleasant design changes, and, yes, Gemini AI. The series comprises the regular Galaxy Watch 8 and the Watch 8 Classic, which has a revolving bezel that fans love.

The new Galaxy Watch8 will arrive in two variants, one with a 40mm diameter and the other with a 44mm diameter. The new Galaxy Watch8 40mm sports a 1.34-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 438 x 438p & Sapphire glass on top. The 44mm sports the larger 1.47-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 480 x480p along with Sapphire glass on top. The device is made out of Aluminium and gives you a premium feel.

The Galaxy Watch8 is powered by the same Exynos W100 SoC coupled with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The device also gets military-grade MIL-STD 810H and IP68 rated making it dust and water-resistant. It is completely waterproof up to 5ATM.

The Galaxy Watch8 also features improved sleep measurement, which provides more accurate sleep tracking than its predecessor.  The device runs on WearOS, powered by Samsung. Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025):

The new Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) will arrive in a single variant one with a 47mm. The new Galaxy Watch Ultra 47mm sports the larger 1.47-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 480 x480p, along with Sapphire glass on top. The device is made out of a Titanium case.

The same Exynos W1000 SoC powers the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025), coupled with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The device is also MIL-STD 810H and IP68 rated making it dust and water-resistant. It is completely waterproof up to 10ATM.

In addition to total sleep time, sleep cycle, awake time, and physical and mental recovery, the Galaxy Watch8 series analyses Sleep Score Factors. Each morning, users receive personalised Sleep Messages, developed in collaboration with the National Sleep Foundation.

One UI 8 Watch:

Samsung’s software experience is mainly built on One UI 8 Watch, which is based on Wear OS 6. It has a new look and several beneficial changes. The new “Now Bar” is the best new feature. It speeds up multitasking and makes the watch face a more useful control centre. The new design also adds a “Featured apps” section, allowing you to access your most-used tools faster, and “multi-info” tiles that enable you to stack widgets, ultimately reducing the need for excessive side swiping.

This year, a lot is going on in the world of monitoring as well. Sleep coaching has been updated with personalised bedtime suggestions and sleep-based heart monitoring, which starts after you log three nights of baseline data. Samsung has also introduced a new “antioxidant index” to help people choose healthier foods.

Samsung has once again put off the subscription trend (for now, at least) by adding more innovative and yet free-running coach tools to the Samsung Health app. A running coach may provide you with tailored training advice, help you keep track of your progress, and give you feedback in real time. Samsung states that Gemini, Google’s AI assistant, is “built-in” to the Watch 8. It’s unclear yet whether that means real intelligence on the watch or just improved phone integration.
