Samsung may finally be ready to launch a wider-style foldable, according to a new leak from industry insider Digital Chat Station. The device is reportedly in active development and could arrive later this year as a new product line alongside the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip, rather than replacing either series.
The leak points to a 7.6-inch inner screen with an almost 4:3 aspect ratio. When unfolded, it should feel closer to a small tablet, making multitasking, document editing, and general productivity more comfortable than on Samsung’s current tall, narrow Fold models. The downside is that, when closed, the phone would be significantly wider than today’s foldables, which might make one-handed use and pocketability more challenging.
Inside, Samsung is expected to use Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, consistent with a 2026 launch window. Power will reportedly come from a dual‑cell battery configuration with a typical capacity around 4,800 mAh (rated at 4,660 mAh: 2,267 mAh + 2,393 mAh), and the device is initially tipped for release in China.
Digital Chat Station’s post also frames the broader market: by 2026, Samsung and Apple are described as the two main international players in the large‑foldable space, with Huawei and an unnamed fourth manufacturer rounding out the list. If accurate, Samsung’s wide foldable could mark the start of a more tablet‑like approach to foldables aimed at users who prioritize screen real estate and productivity.
