In China, Xiaomi has unveiled its flagship phone, the 17 Ultra. The company also announced a 17 Ultra Leica edition, featuring a unique design and a mechanical zoom ring.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra:
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra will feature a 6.9-inch QHD+ M10 12-bit LTPO OLED display. It has a 120Hz refresh rate and a 480Hz touch sampling rate. The display also supports HDR10+ and has Xiaomi Shield Glass 3.0 protection. It is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, coupled with 16GB/12GB of RAM and 512 GB or 1 TB of storage.
The device excels in imaging capabilities. Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a new Leica Summicron lens, a new-generation camera system, and a large aperture across all focal lengths. The device includes four Leica cameras with large apertures. The camera supports snapshots, night scenes, and 8K video, making it a photographer’s dream.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra will indeed feature a 1-inch 50MP primary Light Fusion 1050L sensor and 14 EV native dynamic range. It is coupled with another 50MP Leica Ultra Wide Angle sensor, a 115° ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5cm super macro lens. Lastly, a 200MP HPE periscopic lens has 3.2x-4.3x optical zoom and OIS support. The good thing is that all four can shoot videos up to 8K resolution. It also gets dual-colour temperature LED flash and laser AF. Under the punch-hole notch, there is a 50MP selfie shooter.
It also features an in-display 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, an X-axis motor, and Harmon Kardon stereo speakers. Xiaomi 17 Ultra comes with IP68+IP69 dust and water resistance. Xiaomi’s Surge P2 and Surge G1 custom chips will monitor battery life and charging.
The connectivity option includes Dual SIM with Dual 4G LTE and 5G (Dual-Mode support), A-GPS, GPS, GLONASS, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, NFC, and a USB-C port. It runs on Android 15 with the latest HyperOS 2 on top. It packs a massive 6800 mAh battery with 90W fast wired and 50W wireless charging support.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition:
A mechanical zoom ring lets users adjust focal length, exposure, and white balance on the Leica edition, which has the same specs as the standard variant.

It features a dual-tone design inspired by Leica M-series cameras, a knurling pattern on the frame, and a red Leica logo.
There is also a Leica Moment mode available in a 3:2 aspect ratio, as well as a dual-satellite communication chip and security and encryption functions. In addition to the phone, the box includes a lens cap, a lanyard, a magnetic case, and a cleaning cloth.
Pricing:
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is available in black and silver, white, pine and cypress green, and classic black and silver. Xiaomi 15 Ultra with 12GB+512GB costs 6999 Yuan (Rs.89,500/-), 16GB+512GB at 7499 Yuan (Rs.95,900/-), and 16GB+1TB at 8499 Yuan (Rs.1,08,200/-). It will be available from Dec 27th. Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition costs 8999 yuan (Rs.1,15,100/-) for 16GB+1TB.
