Realme’s Neo series is finally getting a follow‑up. The Realme Neo7 launched back in December last year, and rumours out of China now claim that its successor, the Realme Neo8, is on the horizon.
There’s still no solid information on the exact launch date, but the first leaked specs are already painting an interesting picture. The Neo8 is said to pack a massive 8,000 mAh battery, a clear step up from the Neo7’s already sizable 7,000 mAh cell. Under the hood, the phone is reportedly powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.
Design‑wise, the Neo8 is expected to feature a metal frame sandwiched between glass on the front and back, giving it a more premium build. The leak also mentions an ultrasonic in‑display fingerprint reader, which should offer faster, more reliable unlocking than optical sensors, especially with wet or oily fingers.
When you put it side by side with the Neo7, the upgrades are pretty significant. Realme appears to be switching from MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300+ in the Neo7 to Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 in the Neo8, delivering an entirely new SoC from a different manufacturer. On top of that, the battery capacity gets a notable bump, and the fingerprint scanner tech moves from optical to ultrasonic.
The Neo8 is also rumoured to arrive with excellent dust and water resistance. The Neo7 already boasted IP68 and IP69 certification, so the big question is whether the Neo8 will manage to go even further, perhaps adding an IP69K rating. For now, though, that part is still speculation.
These are all the details currently circulating from the latest leak. We’ll need to wait for more reports—or Realme’s official announcement—to fill in the gaps on things like display specs, cameras, charging speeds, and pricing.
