According to rumours from earlier this month, Samsung will unveil its VR headset, codenamed Project Moohan, on October 21. We are finally getting some solid information about what might be called the Galaxy XR. Several key specs and renders are included in the leak.
Specs:
Samsung’s Galaxy XR will feature two 4K micro-LED displays with 4,032 pixels per inch. Together, the displays will offer 29 million pixels, more than Apple’s Vision Pro or Meta’s Quest 3 headsets’ 23 million pixels.

With the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2, you can track your hands, eyes, and environment with a host of sensors and cameras. Besides a proximity sensor near the forehead and four sensors on the front, the eyewear has two sensors at the bottom for hand tracking. In this case, physical boundaries such as walls, ceilings, and furniture are checked for safety.

In addition to four cameras on the inside, an AI is helping to increase accuracy. Furthermore, you can hear other people’s voices more clearly by using microphones that can distinguish your voice from surrounding sounds. With regular use, the battery lasts 2 hours; with video playback alone, it lasts 2.5 hours.
Design:
As for design, we see a very similar look to the one unveiled back in January by Samsung. With plenty of cushions inside, the headset should be comfortable to wear, and the band can be adjusted via the dial at the back.

It has a volume and power button at the top, a power cable running along the left side of the band, and a touchpad on the right.
The system weighs 545 grams, a bit lighter than the Apple Vision Pro with its 600-650 grams, but 30 grams heavier than Meta’s Quest 3. With the headset, gamers will be able to track their hands more accurately in virtual 3D environments. Of course, they will have haptic feedback. Finally, we get some screenshots of One UI XR, if that’s the software’s branding.
Pricing:
The release date hasn’t been officially announced yet, but the rumours so far point to October 21, the end of this month. Price leaks suggest the device will cost at least $1,800.
