Xiaomi unexpectedly revealed that it will be moving directly to the Xiaomi 17 range, bypassing the Xiaomi 16 series. Although we’ve already discussed several speculations about the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max’s daring new makeover, the company has finally provided an official look at the top flagship model, confirming the new cover display.
After Xiaomi’s official Weibo account updated its profile photo for the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, this confirmation was made. Since the brand quickly undid the alteration, it was evidently an error; yet, given that the purported leak was made just after the Xiaomi 17 branding announcement, it may have been a cunning ploy. The primary camera and periscope telephoto shooter are housed in a large rectangular module with rounded sides, as seen in the image.
This isn’t your typical camera island, though, because it also features a large cover display. Given that cover displays are frequently found on flip phones, such as the Mix Flip 2, this is not the first time we have seen them. A third camera module, most likely the ultra-wide-angle lens, is shown in the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max picture directly beneath the back display. The LED flash module and Leica logo are additional vital components.
Essential information, such as the time and alerts, would likely be displayed on the secondary screen, which can also serve as a viewfinder for the camera. Recall that the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra had a screen similar to this on the back camera module, although it was much smaller. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Qualcomm’s next flagship processor, was recently revealed. It is expected to power the Xiaomi 17 series.
