According to reports, Samsung has been developing its first tri-fold smartphone for some time and is already producing it in large quantities. According to a recent ET News rumor, Samsung could make the device’s announcement earlier than anticipated during a special Unpacked event later this month. In November, a commercial launch would follow.

Samsung has reduced its production projections to just 50,000 units in light of fresh supply chain data. That is far fewer than earlier projections that Samsung would produce 200,000 tri-folds.

It is anticipated that a first-generation device such as the Galaxy G Fold or Galaxy Z TriFold (placeholder names) will test market demand for this form factor. Samsung’s tri-fold will only be available in China and South Korea, which further complicates matters. According to reports, Samsung is sticking to this short run to avoid drawing attention away from the Galaxy Z Fold7 and reducing demand for it.
