For professional filmmakers and mobile production teams, Canon has introduced the EOS C50, a small full-frame RF-mount hybrid Cinema EOS camera. With a lightweight modular design that supports 32MP stills and 7K video recording, it is the smallest model in the Cinema EOS line.

EOS C50 from Canon

The EOS C50 features several accessory mounting points on a small, low-profile body. It has automatic menu and display adjustments and may be used either vertically or horizontally. Two 3-pin XLR inputs, a REC button, a zoom rocker, and control knobs are all included in its detachable handle.

The DIGIC DV 7 processor and a 7K full-frame CMOS sensor are the fundamental components of the EOS C50. It records 32MP stills, 4K 120P, 2K 180P, and 7K 60P RAW. Flexibility in a range of lighting circumstances is ensured by the Dual Base ISO (800/6400) with more than 15 stops of dynamic range.

Using the entire 3:2 sensor area, this is the first Cinema EOS model to offer open gate recording. More post-production freedom is made possible by the option for anamorphic lens use for expansive cinematic views, vertical/horizontal cuts, and reframing.

The camera’s UI alternates between modes, displaying EOS R menus for stills and Cinema EOS menus for video. For social media use, simultaneous crop recording enables the simultaneous capturing of full-frame and cropped vertical or square forms.

For humans, cats, dogs, and birds, Dual Pixel CMOS AF II offers precise subject tracking with eye recognition. It is possible to adjust autofocus responsiveness and speed. The Canon PL-RF Mount Adapter is one of the adapters that let the C50 to work with EF or PL lenses in addition to native RF lenses.

Connectivity support:

Two card slots (CFexpress + SD) are included with the EOS C50 for flexible or proxy recording. Two XLR inputs, a MIC terminal, a timecode terminal, and an HDMI Type-A. Also included are USB-C and a multipurpose shoe, among the I/O possibilities.

The camera is compatible with the Canon XC Protocol for remote operation. It comes with UVC/UAC livestreaming up to 60P/50P, and file sharing with the Content sharing Professional (CTP) app. Additionally, it allows direct proxy upload to the cloud through integration with Adobe Frame.io.

Pricing:

The Canon e-Shop and authorised partner stores in India sell the Canon EOS C50, which costs Rs. 2,99,900.
