According to reports, Apple is working on a new entry-level MacBook that will use its next A18 Pro CPU and may be the most reasonably priced Mac notebook in years.
According to a recent rumour by Digitimes, the tablet may cost between $599 (Rs.52,500/-) and $699 (Rs.61,200/-) and will have a 12.9-inch display.
For example, the 13-inch M4 MacBook Air, which starts at $999, is now the most reasonably priced MacBook available. If this report turns out to be true, there will likely be a $400 price reduction, which should be plenty to entice Windows and Chromebook consumers who have been eyeing the Mac side for years.
A MacBook under $700 may provide a more affordable entry point into Apple’s laptop ecosystem without significantly compromising on performance or style, especially as inflation continues to drive up costs.
The laptop will employ the same chip type as Apple iPhones, which is a significant twist. For a Mac, which generally operates on Apple’s M-series CPUs, that is unique. It does, however, make some sense. Apple may be able to reduce expenses and produce a lightweight, fanless computer that can nevertheless do daily duties with ease by using an A-series CPU.
It has been years since Apple attempted to enter this lower-priced laptop market. It could compete in the market segments it has traditionally left to Windows PCs and less expensive Chromebooks with a product like this.
According to a claim from MacRumors, the device may be released in late 2025 or early 2026. Between 5 and 7 million machines are anticipated to be shipped annually, which may increase Apple’s overall MacBook volume by 30% to 40% from the current 17 million to 18 million units. Additionally, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the laptop would come in silver, blue, pink, and yellow finishes.
