There have been rumours that Samsung Display will introduce a crease-free folding screen for Apple’s foldable iPhone, but according to a recent report by Ming Chi-Kuo, the new generation panel will instead appear on the Galaxy Z Fold8 next year.

To meet the increasing demand for its new generation of laser-processed hinges, Fine M-Tec, one of Samsung Display’s major suppliers, announced that it will invest an estimated KRW 17.5 billion ($12.6 million). Using laser-drilled metal plates, the business has developed an internal hinge that enhances crease resistance and directs stress distribution more effectively.

Kuo is confident that Fine M-Tec will be the only supplier for the Z Fold8 and anticipates that it will provide more than 80% of the internal hinges for Apple’s folding iPhone display. According to the latest research, rivals are expected to adopt laser-drilled display metal plates more quickly as a result of Apple’s entry into the foldable phone market and its stringent specifications for crease-free folding displays.
