Rumours about Redmi’s K90 series have been circulating for some time. The phones are expected to go on sale in October, and according to a recent leak, Xiaomi appears to be preparing for a significant redesign, particularly for the basic model.

A 50MP telephoto camera would be included with every Redmi K90 model, according to tipster Digital Chat Station. Only the Pro variant of the K80 series has a telephoto lens. Wide and ultrawide configurations were the only options available for the regular and Ultra versions.

Additionally, the display is being redesigned. A “customised new screen” with a “large R angle” is mentioned by the tipster; this probably translates to more rounded edges and a more elegant front design.

Additionally, Xiaomi is reportedly using a new base material for the panel, but it’s unclear how this will affect the display’s endurance or quality. In line with K80 standards, you can also expect a continued emphasis on OLED, fast refresh rates, and exceptional brightness.

Interestingly, the source indicates that all K90 variants will include an updated 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a metal central frame, and symmetrical twin speakers. The new configuration may offer faster or more reliable unlocking than the K80 series, which previously featured under-display ultrasonic sensors.

The K90 phones are also anticipated to feature 100W cable charging and have huge 7000mAh-class batteries. That would be in line with the 7410mAh/100W specification seen on the K80 Ultra and an improvement over the 6550mAh/90W arrangement found on the K80. Additionally, IP68 water resistance is still included across the whole lineup.

According to the source, the basic K90 model is likely to undergo the most changes.
