The Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra were released by Samsung in January of this year, followed by the S25 Edge in May. According to a recent report from Samsung’s native country of South Korea, the family will only consist of three people next year (assuming we ignore the FE model).
Thus, the 6.27-inch Galaxy S26, 6.66-inch Galaxy S26 Edge, and 6.89-inch Galaxy S26 Ultra are anticipated. That is correct, if this story turns out to be true, there won’t be a Galaxy S26+.
We aren’t particularly shocked. After all, the Galaxy S25 Edge is narrower than the S25+, but it still has the same screen size. Because of this, it has a much lower battery and one fewer camera, among other concessions. Samsung is simply reacting to the long-standing rumours that Apple will replace the iPhone 16 Plus with the iPhone 17 Air.
It makes sense to discontinue the Plus model of the Galaxy S series, which we suppose has been the one with the lowest sales by far (this is also true for Apple), primarily because the Edge will expressly serve customers who like the in-between screen size.
Naturally, the Ultra is the most costly model in the series, and the fact that the Edge costs more than the Plus helps Samsung’s bottom line. It is also the best option for anyone who wants the largest screen and the most features. Even a slight increase in the line’s average selling price is certain to occur.
However, those who enjoyed the Plus’s features and didn’t require the Ultra’s extra features will now have two unsatisfactory choices: the Ultra, which is larger, heavier, and much more expensive, or the Edge, which is the same size but slightly more expensive, has a smaller battery, and probably still has one fewer camera.
