Samsung is reportedly planning to replace the Galaxy S26 Plus with the thin S26 Edge, similar to what Apple is reportedly planning to do when it releases the iPhone 17 family in September.

According to a new rumour that surfaced today, Samsung’s flagship S-series will undergo a complete redesign in 2026. Additionally, there won’t be a “vanilla” model among the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Evidence from “an internal One UI 8 build” is cited as the source of the information. Who knows what all of this means, but the Ultra will likely remain the Ultra, the Plus variant will be replaced by the Edge as previously rumoured, and the vanilla model will be renamed the Pro.

There won’t be a “simple” S26 model because, if all goes according to plan, Samsung may want to reposition its flagship lineup for the upcoming year to reflect a more premium-focused approach. The word “pro” suggests better specifications, but it’s unclear if we’ll get them.

The big issue is that Samsung might want to raise the base model’s price in addition to renaming it; after all, a “Pro” phone ought to cost more than a non-Pro, right? Hold on while we wait to see if any more rumours begin ‘confirming’ this.
