In the previous two years, Chinese manufacturers’ foldable devices have outperformed Samsung’s technology and matched its software, forcing Samsung to catch up. The South Koreans are now ready to fight back with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7. This is perhaps the largest change to the Z Fold series in years. It boasts bigger displays, a slimmer body, and a 200MP primary camera.

Design:

The primary 8.0″ display now has a new generation of Samsung’s Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG), which is 50% thicker than previously. Samsung also removed the camera that was integrated under the display on the main screen and opted for a more standard 10MP punch-hole approach instead. Unfortunately, support for the S Pen is also gone.

The Z Fold7 got thinner thanks to the new Armour FlexHinge and Armour Aluminium frame housing. When folded, it measures 8.9 mm in thickness, and when unfolded, it measures just 4.2 mm. The Galaxy Z Fold7 weighs 215 grams, which is less than the Galaxy S25 Ultra and 24 grams less than the Z Fold6 from last year.

Specs:
The Galaxy Z Fold7 5G will feature two new Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays, measuring 8.0 inches each, with a resolution of 2184 x 1968 pixels (21.6:9 aspect ratio) and a 120Hz refresh rate. It features Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on top, and a secondary 6.5-inch HD+ AMOLED display (2316 x 968p) is also included. There is an Armour Aluminium frame.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 5G is indeed powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC coupled with 12GB RAM and 256GB/512GB/1TB internal storage space.

It comes with triple rear cameras featuring 200MP with f / 1.8, 1.8 µm, OIS, 2PD, 10MP telephoto lens with f/2.4, OIS, with 3x optical zoom and 12MP ultra-wide sensor with 123-degrees FoV, f/2.2 aperture with LED flash.

The device features a new 12MP selfie camera on the internal display, equipped with an f/1.8 aperture. The external display features a 10MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture. The Galaxy Z Fold7 5G is also certified with an IP48 rating, making it dust and water-resistant. It also gets  S-Pen support, wireless charging, and Dolby Atmos speakers.

Connectivity:

The connectivity option includes a Single SIM with 4G LTE and VoLTE support, as well as 5G, NFC, A-GPS, GLONASS, NavIC, USB Type-C, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.3. There is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The device runs on Android 16 with One UI 8 on top.

One UI 8, based on Android 16, comes with the entire Galaxy AI package on the software side. Samsung says it will provide you 7 Android OS upgrades and 7 years of security fixes.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 ships with a 4,400 mAh battery, supporting 25W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 will be available in three colours: Jet Black, Silver Shadow, and Blue Shadow. Last but not least, the new foldable is thinner and lighter than its predecessor.
